NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
St Asaph Shadows V Holyhead Trojans
23 April 2006
At St Asaph Leisure Centre

18&Under] Team Game

The Trojans had beaten the Shadows earlier in the season, but the home side have shown a big improvement of late, beating some "on-form" teams. A win for the Trojans in their last game of the season, would strengthen their top position in the 18&U league, leaving only Llandudno Vikings able to draw level on points if they win their remaining last two games, but then they'd also have to overcome a better goal difference of 13 for Holyhead.
The Shadows must have wondered what hit them when the Trojan juggernaut overrun them in a first period blitz leaving them trailing 5-0 in their wake. The first came within a minute when Aron Owen, having passed down the wing to Bradley Knight, sprinted off on a run through the middle to receive Bradley's return pass and then bury it passed a stranded Shadows netminder. Aron then broke clear from midfield down the left wing, and passed through a packed defence to find his unmarked brother Hayden who duly scored past a lunging keeper. Aron then again broke clear and unchallenged to let rip an unstoppable wrist shot. The fourth came when Bradley, realising there was no route through a defence that the Shadows had packed out to prevent the onslaught, laid the puck back to Jake Roberts who let fly a shot that just squeezed passed their keeper and post. Aron, through some tenacious play to overcome some desperate tackling by the home side, again broke clear and got their fifth goal of the session. The onslaught pegged the home side back which resulted in them only having four shots on Holyhead's goal to the Trojans eleven attempts at the other end. This was in no small way due to one of best defensive displays from Daniel Owen, Jake Roberts and Robert Owen of the season.
The Shadows coaches must have had words in the interval because in the second period, their goal attempts doubled, but on the rare occasions they breached the Trojan defence, they had to then overcome the hugely able netminder Huw Ellis-Jones who was magnificent in stopping all 9 shots on goal in this period. The Trojans also had nine attempts at the other end, one of which was converted when Hayden's pass to Bradley was gratefully received and lifted over the Shadows netminder for a 6-0 lead going into the final & third period.
The home side came out fighting even more fiercely, and quickly got a goal inside a minute. Holyhead then quickly quelled the rebellion when Hayden turned & back passed to his brother Aron who lifted the puck over the keepers left shoulder to get his fourth. The home side got another goal from a total of 15 shots on goal in this period, but with some great defending and Huw in goal, the victory was safe.
Final score was 7-2 to the Holyhead Trojans.

Scorers were Aron Owen (4), Hayden Owen (1), Bradley Knight (1) & Jake Roberts (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: The whole team! Everyone played out of their skin, attack, defence and netminder.

14&Under Team Game

The Trojans 14&U's had also lost to Shadows earlier in season. They too were also missing two key players, so three 11&U players were drafted in having just played in their own game.
Most of the pressure came from St Asaph, and so Holyhead were reasonably pleased to only be trailing by two goals at the end of the first period.
The second period then saw them stretch their lead to 5-0 before Simon Lukehurst took the puck out of his own half, went past two Shadows players and then slotted the puck under their netminder.
The Shadows then hit back hard in the final period, and extended their lead for a 11-1 win.
Jessica Roberts pulled off many fine saves and Ian Owen, despite appearing to be towered over by some of the Shadows players was solid in defence.

Scorers were Simon Lukehurst (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Simon Lukehurst - despite missing his regular forward partner, he stepped up his performance and threatened the Shadows throughout, and helped out in defence to shore them up when it got desperate.

Peewee [U11] Team Game

The Trojan 11&U team are now assured of a play-off position at Deeside in May and were hoping for an improvement on their 3-10 defeat by Shadows earlier in the season. As with yesterdays game, they were still without one or two key players.
Despite a lot of effort they were unable to avoid trailing 3-0 at the end of the first period despite some valiant defence from Patrick Edwards, Huw Morgan-Jones & James Clay-Evans.
The Trojans were, however, able to restrict the Shadows to just one goal in the second period with some magnificent saves from netminder Kyle Thorneypotter.
Holyhead opened the third & final period with a great goal when James Clay-Evans long pass out of defence was guided in by Dale Stalman. St Asaph then responded with 3 goals of their own to end with the final score at 8-1 in their favour.

Scorers were: Dale Stalman (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Patrick Edwards - gave a good, intelligent defensive performance with many key tackles.

NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
Prestatyn Piranhas V Holyhead Trojans
22 April 2006
At Prestatyn Leisure Centre

18&Under] Team Game

The Piranhas are one of two teams to have beaten the Trojans this season. Although the Trojan 18&U team are guaranteed to finish in the top four and therefore make the play-offs, they're still in the running to win the league, and so every point is valuable.
The opening period was a tight affair with both teams having chances. The home side just shaded the first period with a 1-0 lead.
The Trojans then equalised through Hayden Owen, when the Piranhas netminder covered the puck and then showed it for the defence to collect and take, put Hayden poked his stick through and the puck slipped in under the keeper. Prestatyn then hit back, before Aron Owen passed to Bradley Knight who then equalised for a score of 2-2 going into the final period.
The third period was tense, with some outstanding saves by Trojans netminder Huw Ellis-Jones from some powerful shooting by the Piranhas and also by the Prestatyn netminder keeping out Aron and Bradley. Neither side was able to break the deadlock so the score ended 2-2.
Credit should be given to both referees who despite severe pressure form players and supporters, didn't give a goal at either end because they hadn't actually seen the puck cross the line.

Scorers were Hayden Owen (1) & Bradley Knight (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Daniel Owen - solid in defence and was rarely got the better of by a fierce & strong attack.

14&Under Team Game

The Trojans 14&U's had also lost heavily to Prestatyn earlier in season, and the home side quickly showed why they're second in the league by taking a 3-0 lead at the end of the first period. They added another two before Mark Parry broke out of the midfield, dummied the netminder to then slot home a goal. Mark soon again broke clear and then found Simon Lukehurst in support with a last minute pass from Mark, Simon was able to add some respectability to a score of 7-2 going into the final period.
Prestatyn then applied even more pressure to a now weary Holyhead as they added 6 more goals to their tally. The Trojans were able to rally with Mark and Simon setting up one-two passes through the Prestatyn defence which ended with Mark getting his second. The final score was 13-3 to Prestatyn Piranhas.
Again Matthew Birch was solid in defence and Jessica Roberts kept out shot after shot with continual pressure from Piranhas.

Scorers were Mark Parry (2) & Simon Lukehurst (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Jessica Roberts - made some outstanding saves

Peewee [U11] Team Game

The Trojans had lost heavily to Prestatyn earlier in season, but with Piranhas leading the 11&U division by some considerable margin and with one or two key players missing from Holyhead's ranks, it was maybe a case of damage limitation. Despite continual pressure by the home side and with some great saves by Kyle Thorneypotter, the Trojans were delighted to find the score still at 0-0 at the end of the first period.
The Prestatyn coach must have given his team a good talking to, because they then came out in the second period and put 6 goals past the visitors during which the Trojan's seemed to loose enthusiasm.
The Trojan's coach, Chris Owen, must have rallied them in the break because they came out and restricted the Piranhas to just the one goal and even broke out of defence a few times to create a few chances at goal themselves. The final score was 7-0 to Prestatyn Piranhas.
The Trojan's 11&U team will still make the end of season play-offs with at least a 4th league position, (the top four go into the play-offs) and should take heart from their 4 wins and 1 draw this season so far.

Scorers were: None

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Ryan Twiss - Played well and fought & tackled hard throughout

NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
Holyhead Trojans V Conwy Rage
9 April 2006
At Holyhead Leisure Centre

18&Under] Team Game

The Trojans had beaten Conwy Rage earlier in season 14-1 away from home and needed another win to ensure their place in the end of season play-offs. Aron Owen gave them an early lead after he found himself in front of goal with no passes on, so he let rip with a powerful wrist shot that left the keeper stranded. Aron and Bradley Knight then hit a series of 1-2 passes, which ended with Aron again ramming the puck home to give Holyhead a 2-0 lead at the end of the first period.
Bradley then got the Trojans only goal of the second period, where he received a pass from the defence, turned and let fly a shot from the half way line that just found the gap between keeper and post. Rage then staged a spirited comeback and levelled the score at 3-3 gong into the final period.
The Trojans were down to 3 men after having a player sin-binned, but despite this, Daniel Owen chased a clearance up-field, passed back to Bradly who skated up in support and duly put away the puck past the keeper to settle the home fans nerves. Hayden Owen then squeezed a pass to his brother Aron, who's instant snap-shot gave the keeper no chance. Aron again was the recipient of another pass, from Bradley, which he hit with such ferocity, the keeper was left stranded.
There were also solid displays from the defender Jake Roberts and netminders Laura Evans and Huw Ellis-Jones.
The final score was 6 - 3 to Holyhead Trojans.

Scorers were Aron Owen (4) & Bradley Knight (2)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Hayden Owen - Showed some nice touches and gave a battling display to break up many attacks by the opposition.

14&Under Team Game

The Trojans 14&U team had beaten Rage 6-3 earlier in season, their only win of the season, and so were hopeful of doing the double over them.
Hoyhead got off to a great start, when Mark Parry went down the right wing past two Rage players, passed to Simon Lukehurst on the far side of goal who simply lobbed the puck over the keeper. Simon then returned the favour, also going passed two players, passed to Mark who then scored. Simon and Mark then both scored again with the visitors getting one to end the first period with the home side leading 4-1.
Rage then got themselves a second goal, before Mark broke clear from the face-off and helped himself to another. Mark then got another two goals, with Simon getting his third, before Scott Craven got in on the action and tucked away the puck under the keeper from a re-bound. The score going into the final period was 9-2.
Simon then scored two more goals before Mark scored again with 2 seconds left of the period. The final score was 12-4 to the Holyhead Trojans.

Scorers were Mark Parry (6), Simon Lukehurst (5) & Scott Craven

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Simon Lukehurst & Ian Owen - Simon gave his best performance of the season and raced back numerous times break up opposition attacks and Ian gave a solid defensive display, never giving an inch.

NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
Glaslyn Pirates V Holyhead Trojans
26 March 2006
At Glaslyn Leisure Centre (Porthmadog)

18&Under] Team Game

The 18&U games between the Trojans and Pirates are always tense & hot blooded affairs, and so this one would also prove to be.
The Trojans got off to a flying start getting two successive goals which each started with Bradley Knight fighting for possession and then passing to Aron Owen in front of goal who duly obliged by tucking the puck away in the back of the net. The Pirates hit back with one of their own before Bradley again passed to Aron who, skating at an angle to the goal, flicked the puck behind him and shot the puck with the back of his stick behind him to score a cheeky if impossible goal to end the first period with a 3-1 lead.
The second period saw the home side hit back to reduce the gap before Bradley went past two defenders then pulled the puck back to Aron who let rip with a powerful slap shot which tore through the Pirates defence, passed a stranded keeper to find the back of the net for a 4-2 lead going into the final period. On one occasion, Huw dived onto a puck as a Pirate went to shoot right in front of goal and took the full force of his hockey stick on his helmet.
At the start of the third period Robert Owen soon found himself sat in the sin-bin for 2 minutes, so Glaslyn had a 4 on 3 power-play. Despite being under severe pressure, Aron got the puck to an unmarked Bradley who broke clear to score and take the pressure off. Huw Ellis-Jones pulled off a succession of great saves from a totally committed Pirates team who gave no quarter when there was even a sniff of a loose puck in front of goal, such as a rebound from a saved shot. On two occasions, such was the ferocity of their desire to get a goal, an also totally committed Huw bore the brunt of their physicality which resulted in him sustaining injury and having to take breathers to recover. Jake Roberts then broke down the right and passed to Hayden Owen who swept the puck past the stranded netminder. Porthmadog hit back again before Daniel Owen's pass found Bradley who skipped past two defenders to get his second goal.
The final score was 7-3 to Holyhead Trojans.
There were also strong defensive performances from Daniel Owen, Jake Roberts and Robert Owen.

Scorers were Aron Owen (4) Bradley Knight (2) & Hayden Owen

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Huw Ellis-Jones - Gave an extremely brave display against some ferocious attacking play

14&Under Team Game

The Trojans 14&U's had lost to the Pirates earlier in the season and were hoping for an improvement on the return.
The home side quickly displayed their superiority taking a 4-0 lead before Mark Parry received a defence clearing pass from Ian Owen, and went on to score. The Pirates got another to end the first period leading 5-1. The visitors had as many attempts on goal than the home team but their finish wasn't as clinical as the Pirates.
Despite a good defensive display from Matthew Birch and Myrddin Griffiths, the Porthmadog team increased their lead to 9-1 in the second period. Again, Holyhead had as many shots on the home side goal as the Pirates did on theirs, but again their finishing let them down.
The final period saw much of the same with the Glaslyn Pirates piling on the pressure to win 15-1.

Scorers were Mark Parry

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Matthew Birch - solid defensive display and never gave an inch

Peewee [U11] Team Game

The Trojans 11&U's had beaten the Porthmadog team 10-5 earlier in season and so were hoping for much of the same when they visited the Pirates for the return fixture. Holyhead soon picked where they'd left off when James Evans scored from James Clay-Evans pass. James Evans soon returned the favour when James Clay-Evans received his pass and rammed home under the net-minders legs. James Clay-Evans then got another, before James Evans seized on a blocked shot to get his second to end the first period with a 4-0 lead. In the second period the pair picked up where they'd left off with James Evans somehow getting a pass through a packed defence to James Clay-Evans who buried the puck in the back of the net. The pair got one apiece to go into the final period with a 7-0 lead. The third period then saw Byron Thorne get in on the action as he pounced on Ryan Twiss rebounded shot off the back wall to slot home. James Evans then sealed the victory with his fourth goal for a Trojan victory of 9-0. There were also good performances from Huw Morgan-Jones and Patrick Edwards in defence, but in particular net-minder Kyle Thorney-Potter made a series of great saves to keep a clean sheet.

Scorers were: James Clay-Evans (5) James Evans (3) and Byron Thorne

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Kyle Thorney-Potter - pulled off a series of great saves for a total "shut-out".

NWIHA Inline Hockey League
Holyhead Trojans V Ffrancon Cobras (Bethesda)
19 March 2006
At Holyhead Leisure Centre

18&Under Team Game

The Trojans had beaten the Ffrancon Cobras at Bethesda earlier in season 15-4, but the Cobras have shown an improvement recently by picking up their first win of the season by beating St Asaph.
Indeed the visitors posted their intent by taking an early lead, scoring from a shot from the half-way line. Bradley Knight hit back by taking the puck out defence, beating three Cobras and then scoring off of his own blocked shot. Ffrancon again showed they were no pushover by again scoring before Bradley received a pass from Aron Owen and scored off the back of his stick to level the score 2-2 at the end of the first period.
In the second period, Holyhead picked up the pace with Aron getting his first, lifting the puck over the keeper, before Bradley got his third. The best move of the game came when Aron's inch perfect pass between two Cobras defenders found Bradley who again scored. The visitors hit back with their third, before Aron and Brad added one a piece to go into the final period leading 7-3.
The final period saw much of the same with the visitors enthusiasm ebbing a little through their tiredness. Aron added two more and Brad got another, as the visitors showed a little venom in their tale as they got two consolation goals.
Again the Trojans defence of Daniel Owen, Jake Roberts and Robert Owen was solid, with just the odd mistake, but with fine saves from both net-minders Laura Evans and Huw Ellis-Jones, the visitors were largely kept in check.
The final score was 10 - 5 to Holyhead Trojans.

Scorers were Bradley Knight (6) and Aron Owen (4)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Jointly Bradley Knight & Aron Owen - always chasing loose pucks, battling for possession and displayed intelligent play by holding up the puck when a player down through a "sin-bin" to thwart oppositions power play.

14&Under Team Game

No game - Cobras have no 14&U team

11&Under Team Game

No game - Cobras have no 11&U team

NWIHA Inline Hockey League
Holyhead Trojans V Llandudno Vikings
12 March 2006
At Holyhead Leisure Centre

18&Under Team Game

The Vikings had convincingly beaten the Trojans at Llandudno 6-2 back in November, and hadn't lost all season, so Holyhead knew they were in for a tough game.
The first period was a close affair with Holyhead Trojans applying most of the pressure at the Vikings end. Bradley Knight broke the deadlock when he seized on a poor clearance by the visitors defence and hit a speculative shot at their goal and saw it trickle in underneath the net-minder. Jake Robert's "off-traget" shot then bounced off the back wall and was neatly tucked away by Bradley with the back of his stick to give the home side a 2 - 0 lead.
The second period then saw the visitors pick up the pace and start to rain in a series of ferocious slap shots on goal to which the Trojans net-minder Laura Evans bravely stood up to and stopped all but one of them. The Trojans responded through Jake's wrist from the halfway line bouncing just in front of the visitor's keeper to go under him. Aron Owen's pass then found Bradley in front of goal for him to score and Bradley then went past two defenders to get his fourth as Holyhead ended the second period leading 5 - 1.
Again the Vikings came back at the Trojans which brought out some robust defending from Jake, Daniel Owen and Robert Owen, with Bradley and Aron tracking back to help out in some desperate situations. The best move of the match involved Robert passing out of defence to Jake, who then laid the puck into the path of Aron, who feinted the keeper and whipped the puck off the back of his stick. The visitors got three goals in the final period, but Aron was able to get another goal after receiving a pass from Jake to make the game safe. The final score was 7 - 4 to the Holyhead Trojans.

Scorers were Bradley Knight (4), Aron Owen (2) & Jake Roberts

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Laura Evans, gave an outstanding performance with a series of magnificent saves against some ferocious shooting by a Vikings side trying to avoid their first defeat of the season.

14&Under Team Game

The Vikings has just shaded this game 3 - 2 at Llandudno back in November.
The Trojans opened briskly with Mark Parry seizing on Scott Craven's blocked shot and lifted the puck over the keeper. Mark again followed in from a blocked shot from Simon Lukehurst to get his second. He then past 2 defenders and scored to give the home side a 3 - 0 lead at the end of the first period.
The second period then saw Ian Owen seize on a loose puck after Mark was fouled, to slot past the keeper. The visitors then hit back with three goals of their own to go into the last period trailing 4-3.
The Vikings then got an equaliser, as the home side's tiredness began to show. The Trojans were then unable to protect the points as Llandudno got another goal to end the match 5-4 winners.

Scorers were Mark Parry (3) & Ian Owen

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Mark Parry, got three goals and was always helping out in defence.

11&Under Team Game

Game cancelled and forfeited by Vikings, so Trojans win 4 - 0.

NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
Conwy Rage V Holyhead Trojans
11 December 2005
At Eirias Park Leisure Centre

18&Under] Team Game

The first period opened briskly with some great passing moves between Bradley Knight and Aron Owen which resulted in a 0-6 first period lead. There were numerous assists with both Aron & Bradley helping each other score, as did Jake Roberts and Hayden Owen assist them as well. Although Rage had more shots, they weren't able to breach netminder Huw Ellis-jones goal line, and at the end of a devastating first period, the Trojans had scored 6 times from 7 shots, whilst Conwy had failed to score from 11 shots.
The second period again saw Rage fail to score from more shots than their opponents, 0 goals from 15 shots, with Laura Evans taking over netminding duties from Huw half way through this second session. The Trojans scored 3 more times from just 8 shots, with Aron getting two more and Hayden getting his first to go into the final period leading 0-9.
The third period saw much of the same with the best goal coming after Aron passed up the middle into the path of Bradley's who simply lifted the puck over a lunging Rage keeper.
The home side got a consolation goal, but it was too little, too late as Holyhead sealed their win 1-14.

Scorers were Aron Owen (8), Bradley Knight (5) & Haydon Owen (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Aron Owen - a display of total commitment and skill which netted him 8 goals.

14&Under Team Game

Holyhead Trojan 14&U's have lost all four games this season and so were hoping for a change in fortune at some time. Things continued to look bleak as Conway Rage opened a 2-0 lead by the end of the first period, despite the Trojans having most of the play.
Holyhead hit back in the second period when Simon Lukehurst won possession from a face-off, and his pass was buried in the back of the net by Mark Parry. The home side then hit back, before Mark took the puck out of some messy play in midfield to shoot past the netminder and take the score to 3-2 to Rage going into the final period.
Fortune then seemed to favour the visitors as Scott Craven's shot from a face-off, just edged passed the keeper and over the line. Ian Owen's pass then found Mark who smashed in past a lunging Conwy keeper. Mark then got his fourth as he went round the last defender, feinted the netmnder at the last minute and then slid the puck underneath him. Scott then sent a speculative pass towards Mark in a crowded defence, which somehow Mark got a stick to, to guide it in past the Rage netminder.
The final score was 3-6 to Holyhead Trojans.

Scorers were Mark Parry (5) & Scott Craven (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Mark Parry - Scored five goals and was always helping out in defence when Rage broke away.

NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
Holyhead Trojans V Glaslyn Pirates
27 November 2005
At Holyhead Leisure Centre

18&Under] Team Game

The 18&U games between the Trojans and Pirates are always tense & hot blooded affairs, and so this one would also prove to be.
Bradley Knight quickly gave his team an early lead, after breaking free and scoring an easy goal. His shot from his own corner, which went the length of the hall, somehow squeezed in under the visitor's netminder, much even to his surprise. Aron Owen then got in on the act by getting three goals, the second of which was after a pass from Brad into Aron's path and the third saw Aron blast passed the netwminder after following a rebound off of the back from Brad's missed shot, for a first period lead of 5-0.
The Trojans then extended their lead with two more assists from Aron to set up Bradley, and Jake Roberts got in a wrist shot from the left which got through a crowded defence to find the back of the net. The visitors then got two goals to go into the final period trailing 8-2.
The Pirates must have had a rallying break, because they came out and quickly scored three goals to only trail by three. However, Aron's pass then found Bradley in front of goal, who quickly buried the puck under the keeper to seal a 9-5 win.

Scorers were Bradley Knight (5), Aron Owen (3) & Jake Roberts.

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Huw Ellis-Jones - gave an awesome display of keeping against a hard shooting team

14&Under Team Game

The Pirates are the current western 14&U league champions, with the Trojans coming second last season.
The visitors started briskly, but the home side hit back against the run of play, to take an early 1-0 lead after Simon Lukehurst's pass beat the keeper to find Mark Parry skating backwards who then back-sticked the puck into an empty goal. The Pirates immediately hit back and by the end of the first period had a 1-4 lead.
Glaslyn soon got another goal, before Mark then intercepted a Pirates pass and weaved passed three of their players to score his second. Mark's pinpoint pass was then shot past the keeper by Simon, where the period ended with a 3-6 lead to the visitors.
The final period ended 3-9 to Glaslyn Pirates, without the Trojans adding anymore goals. There were good defensive displays by Matthew Birch and Scott Craven against a good Porthmadog team.

Scorers were Mark Parry (2) & Simon Lukehurst

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Scott Craven - solid defensive display and never gave an inch

Peewee [U11] Team Game

The Trojans 11&U's had lost both their matches last season to the Pirates, but were hoping this season's improvement would continue against Porthmadog.
James Clay-Evans duly obliged with the opening goal for Holyhead, before Dale Stalman also got in on the act with a shot from the halfway line which went under the opponent's netminder. Glaslyn then hit back, before James Evans, James Clay-Evans and Dale all added goals each for a first period lead of 5-1.
The second period found Byron Thorne in front of goal, who turned and scored. James Clay-Evan's pass then found an unmarked Ryan Twiss who duly scored, with Dale getting his third after following up on Mikey Wood's blocked shot to put away the rebound.
The score going into the final period was 8-1 to the Trojans, but the Pirates then started to claw their way back with them getting two goals in quick succession, before a poor clearance went straight to Holyhead's Byron who score his second goal. The visitors again got two more goals before James Evans long shot then somehow fond the back of the net to make the score safe at 10-5 to the Holyhead Trojans.

Scorers were: Dales Stalman (3), James Evans (2), Byron Thorne (2), James Clay-Evans (2) & Ryan Twiss

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Patrick Edwards - First time in goal but made many fine saves.

NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
Holyhead Trojans V Predators
6 November 2005
At Holyhead Leisure Centre

14&Under] Team Game

Holyhead, had only played the Predators (from Deeside), who are the current North Wales Champions, at North Wales championship play-offs and had always come off worst. Now that the east/west leagues are combined they have to play them regularly.
The first period opened predictably with the Predators taking a 2-0 lead before Mark Parry hit back with a shot from the half way line which squeezed passed the visitors netminder. The visitors then stretched their lead for a first period lead of 4-1.
Soon into the second period, a Predator player fell awkwardly and sustained a suspected broken leg. After a long delay while the ambulance service strapped his leg and took him away, play resumed and the Predators, undeterred, added another 6 goals to go into the final period 10-1 in front.
The final period saw the Deesider's stretch their lead even further with the Trojans spectators wishing the clock down to limit the agony. The match ended with a 21-1 win for Predators.
The Holyhead Trojans and spectators would express their sympathy & concern to the Predator injured player and hope his injury is minor and that he can get back to playing inline hockey soon.

Scorers were Mark Parry

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Jessie Roberts - the score could have been even worse if she'd not made the many fine saves that she did.

Peewee [U11] Team Game

As with their 14&Under counterparts, the 11&Under Predators are the current North Wales Champions, so it came as little surprise when they opened up a 2-0 lead after a few minutes. However, the Trojans decided not to roll over and started to fight back. Dale Stalman's determined scrap to win possession of the puck paid off, when he eventually passed to James Evans who then scored. James Clay-Evans then took the puck out of defence and then shot from the half way line to score and level the match. James Evans shot then went in, before the Predators levelled, and then James Clay-Evans pass found Dale who again scored for a surprise Trojans first period lead of 4-3.
The second period saw Dale score twice for a 6-3 lead before the Predators hit back to go into the final period with Holyhead leading 6-5.
Could the Trojans 11&U pull off a first ever win over the Predators and their first win for 11/2 years? The home sides' spectators hearts sank as the visitors levelled at 6-6. Ryan Twiss's pass then found James Evans who shot and scored from the half way line. A three pass movement between the two James' eventually found Dale up front who turned and shot passed the keeper to seal a 8-6 victory for the Holyhead Trojans.
This was a great team effort with fine performances all round, particularly Byron Thorne who made many crucial interceptions and tackles.

Scorers were: Dales Stalman (3), James Evans (3) & James Clay-Evans (2)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Huw Morgan Jones - made many fine saves and contributed greatly to the margin of victory.

NWIHA Inline Hockey Western League
Ffrancon Cobras V Holyhead Trojans
29 October 2005
At Bethesda Leisure Centre

18&Under] Team Game

Holyhead quickly opened their account with a good two pass movement starting with Steven Lukehurst passing up the line to Bradley Knight who then found Aron Owen to score. The Cobras then hit back and took a surprising 2-1 lead by two defensive mix-ups in the Trojan defence. The visitors then hit back with two of their own, the best of which involved intricate 1-2 passing between Bradley and Aron to eliminate defenders with Brad ending the move with an easy goal.

Holyhead Trojans V St Asaph Shadows

At Holyhead Leisure Centre

18&Under] Team Game

This was both team's first match since the end of last seasons play-offs, where the 18&U Holyhead Trojans team had won to become the overall North Wales Champions.
The Shadows quickly opened a 1-0 lead before Bradley Knight picked up on a poor St Asaph clearance and rammed the puck under the keeper to level the score. Brad then set-up an unmarked Aron Owen who got his first, with Brad then getting two more of his own. Aron then chased down the puck in what seemed like a lost cause, won possession and back flipped a pass into the path of his brother Hayden who found the back of the net. The Shadows then hit back with two of their own where the 1st period ended with the Trojans leading 5-3.
The 2nd period saw both Bradley and Aron scoring, with Aron's coming from him sitting on the floor, however, the visitor's hit back with four of their own to level the score 7-7 leaving a tense last period for the spectators to endure.
Haydon seized on a poor defensive clearance to wrist shot a goal past the Shadows netminder. Aron's pass to Bradley took him wide, but Brad still managed to turn sharply and score and Aron soon added his 3rd goal. Again the visitors hit back with two of their own to trail by 10-9, before Aron took the puck out of defence to race up and score his 4th. Bradley then made an important tackle on their last man which left him clear to score his 6th. St Asaph scored again but the game was already safe for the Holyhead Trojans who therefore won 12-10.
Daniel Owen put in a great defensive performance in his debut for the 18&U team, as did Robert Owen, and there were fine performances from netwminders Huw Ellis-Jones & Laura Evans.

Scorers were Bradley Knight (6), Aron Owen (5) & Hayden Owen (1)

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Due to the sheer effort in a bigger workload due to a reduced squad size, both Bradley Knight & Aron Owen get joint MVP.

14&Under Team Game

The Trojans had beaten Shadows twice last season and got the 2nd league spot to get into the play-offs, however, they are without two very strong defenders this season, both of whom have gone up to the 18&U team.
The first period saw the Shadows open up a two goal lead.
The visitors extended their lead in the 2nd period before Myrddin Griffiths scored from the half way line and Simon Lukehurst's back pass found Scott Craven in front of goal who rammed home past the netminder for a score of 2-6 to the Shadows going into the final period.
St Asaph then extended their lead even further before Mark Parry answered for Holyhead by tucking a goal under the opposing keeper.
The score ended 3-12 to St Asaph.

Scorers were Myrddin Griffiths, Scott Craven & Mark Parry

MVP - Most Valuable Player: Simon Lukehurst - worked hard throughout and set-up Scott's goal.

Peewee [U11] Team Game
